Objects for Lonely Men

United StatesGALLERYCONVERSATION
Objects for Lonely Men consists of a collection of eight electronic products designed to alleviate loneliness after the departure or loss of a woman. The project is an attempt to understand what initiates loneliness; do we miss the individual or the generic traces they leave behind?

1. Chest Curler: imitates the rotating action of a finger swirling chest hair in concentric circles with an aluminum finger.
2. Cold Feet: placed under sheets at night, it simulates a lover’s cold feet beside yours.
3. Hair Alarm Clock: attached to the head board, alarm works by shaking hair on the user’s face.
4. Heavy Breather: placed on the pillow, device breathes hot air on the user’s neck.
5. Plate Thrower: top-loading, rapid-fire plate thrower used to simulate a heated fight with a loved one.
6. Shared Cigarette: device lets the user share a cigarette with something after masturbation.
7. Sheet Thief: set on a five hour timer, device steals the sheets. Is reset when user pulls the sheets back out.
8. Silhouette Light: light which projects a woman’s silhouette onto the wall.
