Stella Nanni
BrésilGALERIECONVERSATION
On the afternoon of March 18th, the non-profit organization the Consulado da Mulher (the Woman’s Consulate) hosted the painting and information workshop "Young women: action and transformation in the family and community, " at the House of Culture and Education Sao Luiz (Sao Luiz district, in Sao Paulo).

The activities, under the supervision of the Education coordinator Silvana Nascimento, and the artist Stella Nanni, were part of the Imagining Ourselves project, a world-wide project from the International Museum of Women. This workshop was the first activity to be held at the Consulate, there will be four other workshops throughout June.

According to Silvana, the main goal of the workshop was to promote reflection and debate about how women see themselves in their family, in their communities and as a people who have desires and future plans of achievements and happiness.

With the orientation of the artist Stella Nanni, the first activity of the meeting was group painting. The participants each had to paint a tree, keeping in mind what they desire for their lives. After this, the groups gathered to talk about their relationships with their relatives and their community, the division of work, children’s education, and what could be changed.

After a snack, the women participated in an activity called “Panel: Projects of Happiness” where they wrote down what they desired for their family, friends and communities. The comments were then glued to the trees that they had painted. After that, a carpet of paper was extended between the groups, where they each registered what they would need to accomplish in order to achieve their projects of happiness. The workshop ended on a positive note with the exchange of hand massages using scented oil.
