STATISTICS:
In a 2006 AC Nielsen survey conducted to judge if current models were too thin, 94% of people in Norway, 92 % in New Zealand and Switzerland and 90 % in Australia said the models could do with more flesh.
Beyond Stereotypes, a 2005 study commissioned by Dove, surveyed 3,300 girls and women between the ages of 15 and 64 in 10 countries. They found that 90% of all women aged 15 to 64 worldwide want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance, with body weight ranking the highest.

MexicoGALLERYCONVERSATION
My series "Be" follows three young women as they search for their adult identities.

Trying to answer the age-old question of what it really means to be a woman, stripped of stereotypes, I created three fictitious situations based on each of their stories.

My art explores identity through the telling of stories. I like to create stories and place my models in their midst, because I think our lives are made of narratives, and each narrative can and often does transform us; each situation transforms the way we see ourselves, highlights or muffles our doubts, our fears and our impressions of ourselves.
