“Yeah, I’m looking for someone with good grammar." No one’s going to say that. But if you look at someone’s profile and it’s full of...”
“Look. For my whole life I’ve had this dream of how I’m going to meet my husband. And I have a hard enough time imagining that it’s going to happen online and I have a really hard time imagining that I’m going to have to pay for it.”
But did you know that people spend half a BILLION dollars every year on online dating—and that most of that spending is done by members of our generation? Consider for a moment what that means for people in our age group who are seeking mates.
Think first of how it changes what you might be looking for in a mate. In the offline world, what makes men attractive to women? Looks, certainly. And then it also takes guts for a guy to go up and approach a woman.
Online, it’s a little different. You’d be surprised, for example, how much something like being able to be a decent writer matters. When you make a list of things you might look for in a potential mate, how many of you would say, “Yeah, I’m looking for someone with good grammar." No one’s going to say that. But if you look at someone’s profile and it’s full of spelling mistakes, that’s a huge turn off. That doesn’t happen offline.
