Answers Gallery
As we sum up the exhibit, supporters from around the world are having the last word. They're sending us photos of themselves holding their answer to the central question of the Imagining Ourselves project: What Defines Your Generation of Women?
Now it’s your turn. Send in your photo with your answer and we'll include it in the exhibit. All languages welcome! See the "Submit Your Answer" story for information on how to participate and check back often to see new faces and answers in the Answer Gallery.
Write it big. Make it bold. This is your last chance to show Imagining Ourselves and the world what you think defines this generation of women!

Posted on Tuesday, September 09, 2008 3:49 AM As a woman it gives me a very refreshing feeling to see that our women are moving foward. Gone are the days of not being seen nor heard. Today we are in everyones faces screaming ! Literarily. That is why I choose to say we are BOLDER today as we are free to express ourselves and pursue our passions and dreams. |

Posted on Friday, November 30, 2007 9:19 AM Young women today are ADVENTURERS: ADVENTUROUS travelers, wanderlusts who rummage around the world, interested in knowing everything; ADVENTURERS in love, not afraid to follow their hearts or let them be broken. ADVENTURERS in work, switching professions, experimenting with their passions, wanting to be challenged and inspired. ADVENTURERS in ideas, changing their mind with each sunrise and sunset, learning from strangers in foreign countries, allowing themselves to be wrong, not caring about always being right. |

Posted on Thursday, November 29, 2007 3:26 AM I've been watching the gallery and I think it's great how women from different generations choose words that define us all... I've agreed with all of them...

Posted on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 2:12 PM I am very proud of being a very independent woman. I have been married for 8 years and I enjoy being independent, as well. I have my job as an English as Second Language teacher, which let me be financially free. I extremely enjoy having my own mind, to be able to speak out, to be very productive, and best of all, to be able to influence positively in the lives of others. I strongly believe women should be empowered and able to decide by themselves. God bless us all! God bless America! North, center and Southamerica! |

Posted on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 12:11 PM My favorite answers are CHANGE and REAWAKENED.
So much has changed over the last generation. Women are completely different; the world is completely different. Have things changed for the better or for the worse? I think a little bit of both, depending on who you talk to.
I do feel reawakened. Like a wave of insight has washed over me. Light bulbs in my head going off all the time! I really feel that women today have a perspective on life that is refreshing and invigorating - we are the reawakened ones.
I just suggested two new words! Where's my camera...
REFRESHING
INVIGORATING |

Posted on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 11:49 AM That's an interesting question Charys. Maybe PIONEERS. Although there are many women today pioneering through uncharted territories (see the breaking boundaries topic: http://imaginingourselves.imow.org/pb/SubTheme.aspx?id=85&lang=1), I think the women who took some of the first leaps in generations past deserve credit for paving the way for us today. They are true pioneers. |

Posted on Monday, November 26, 2007 8:44 PM I can think of a plethora of words which describe women of my generation. We are INTROSPECTIVE, self-contemplating and thoughtful. QUESTIONING, filled with insatiable curiosity. ADVENTUROUS, willing to take risks with great courage. SOULFUL, EXPRESSIVE...
What words have described previous generations that no longer apply? |

Posted on Monday, November 26, 2007 6:40 PM My word is DETERMINED which is something I think a lot of women in my generation are. Determined to make a difference for the greater good. |

Posted on Monday, November 26, 2007 3:10 PM This is a fun exercise and I would like to give you my word only:
My generation is SELECTIVE and in every sense of the word...
We are selective about our partners, about our careers, about the causes we support, the hobbies we invest our time in. And selectivity is necessary. We have to be selective because given the wealth of information we have access to and the options we have been presented with, it is, otherwise, just too overwhelming! |

Posted on Monday, November 26, 2007 11:05 AM I think young women are DREAMERS and it is a bitter-sweet reality.
Oscar Wilde once said in words only he could form that "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.” To dream is a gift that we have, a gift many generations before us dared not dream of. I am grateful to my parents for letting me and enabling me to dream, but it is nevertheless my responsibility not to become a somnambulist, never waking and never taking responsibility for actually materializing those ethereal ideas. |

Posted on Monday, November 12, 2007 12:42 PM I think it is so interesting that everyone has chosen different words. Not a single person has repeated a word yet! I think this is testament to the diversity and creativity of young women today. We are complex thinkers. We are individuals. We will not conform or be molded into what people think young women should be. |
